You could win a new high-efficiency gas furnace, a tankless water heater, and high performance windows. This and more is part of the Home Energy Makeover Contest by Energy Trust of Oregon.
Contest winners will receive a "3-4 hour whole-house assessment. A Home Performance with ENERGY STAR contractor will test and examine your home inside and out to identify where your home wastes energy."
Based on results, you'll receive a customized package of home improvements that could include:
• High-efficiency gas furnace or electric heat pump
• Energy-efficient electric water heater or tankless gas water heater
• High-performance windows
• Insulation, air sealing and duct sealing
• Energy-saving lighting
• Water-saving improvements
To enter, you must own a primary residence in Oregon and have primary heating fuel provided by Portland General Electric, Pacific Power, NW Natural or Cascade Natural Gas. The deadline to enter is May 5, 2009 at 6pm.
Four homeowners will win the makeovers. "Winning homes will be selected based on energy usage per square foot and potential to demonstrate whole-house energy savings through Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® improvements. Factors such as past energy usage, home size and age, and number of occupants may be considered."
Winners will be selected on June 15, 2009 and notified within three business days.
